Wall Art by Room: Ideas and Prints for Every Space
Looking for wall art that suits the room it will hang in? Our posters and art prints are grouped by space, so you can go straight to living room wall art, bedroom prints, kitchen posters, office art, bathroom prints or nursery and kids' room posters. Every design is printed to order, framed or unframed, in sizes from 6 x 8 in to 28 x 39 in (15 x 20 to 70 x 100 cm).
Wall art ideas for every room
Short on inspiration? Here are three ideas for each room, each with a selection of prints to match.
Living room
- One oversized print above the sofa: a 28 x 39 in (70 x 100 cm) print about two-thirds the width of the sofa, such as a Pompeii fresco.
- A pair of matching prints: two 20 x 28 in (50 x 70 cm) prints side by side, 2 to 3 in apart. Matisse cut-outs work especially well in pairs.
- A gallery wall: five to seven frames in the same finish, built around one larger piece, mixing abstract prints and black and white posters.

Bedroom
- One wide print above the headboard: a landscape format centered on the bed rather than on the wall, such as one of our nature and landscape posters.
- A small print above each bedside table: two 12 x 16 in (30 x 40 cm) prints that echo each other, like a pair of botanical prints.
- A soft, restful palette: blues, beiges and muted greens help a bedroom feel calm. Start with our beige posters or blue posters.

Kitchen and dining room
- A medium print between the cabinets: kitchen walls are often narrow, so 12 x 16 in or 16 x 20 in (30 x 40 or 40 x 50 cm) usually fits best. Our coffee and tea posters are made for it.
- A cocktail print above the bar cart or sideboard: pick one from our cocktail and wine posters.
- One large painting facing the dining table: a reproduction of a great painter, such as Van Gogh, gives every meal a sense of occasion.
A frame behind plexiglass wipes clean in seconds. See all our kitchen wall art, which also works in cafés and restaurants.
Kids' room and nursery
- A series of three animals above the crib: three prints of the same size from our storybook animals, hung in a row.
- The first letter of their name: one of our alphabet letter posters, a print that grows with the child.
- A theme they love, hung at their eye level: for older children, space and astronomy posters hung lower than usual, so they can see them from their bed.
Shatterproof plexiglass makes a framed print a safer choice than glass in a child's room. Browse all our kids' and nursery posters and our nursery and kids' room wall art guide.
Home office
- A clean print in your line of sight: simple lines catch the eye without pulling it away from the screen. Try our architecture posters or minimalist posters.
- A bold print behind you for video calls: large shapes and strong colors read better on camera than fine detail, which makes colorful posters a good choice.
- A quote you actually believe in: one of our motivational posters, hung where you will see it when the day drags on.

Bathroom
- One framed print above the towel rail: a medium format with a watery theme, such as our ocean and sea posters.
- A spa mood: zen posters and soft botanical prints turn even a small bathroom into a calmer place.
- A touch of humor: the bathroom is the perfect spot for one of our funny posters.
Keep prints framed, out of reach of the shower spray, and favor a well-ventilated room: paper does not like constant moisture. Browse all our bathroom wall art.

How to choose the right size and placement
A good print in the wrong size or at the wrong height never looks quite right. These rules of thumb work in every room:
- Two-thirds rule: above a sofa, a bed or a sideboard, aim for artwork about two-thirds the width of the furniture.
- Eye level: hang the center of the artwork 57 to 60 in (145 to 152 cm) from the floor.
- Above furniture: leave 8 to 10 in (20 to 25 cm) between the top of the furniture and the bottom of the frame.
- Gallery wall: keep 2 to 3 in (5 to 8 cm) between frames, and measure the whole group as if it were a single piece.
- Small walls: hallways, kitchens and bathrooms suit 12 x 16 in to 16 x 20 in prints (30 x 40 to 40 x 50 cm).
- Large walls: one 20 x 28 in or 28 x 39 in print (50 x 70 or 70 x 100 cm) has more impact than several small ones.
Portrait prints suit tall, narrow walls and the space between two windows; landscape prints suit wide walls above sofas, beds and sideboards. Before drilling, cut a sheet of paper to the size of the frame and tape it to the wall: you will see straight away whether the size is right. Posters and art prints made to last
Our catalogue mixes original designs by Posterscape's artists with reproductions of great painters such as Van Gogh, Matisse and Mucha. Each poster is printed to order on heavy 200 gsm matte paper, with deep blacks and sharp detail, by a print partner close to the delivery address.
Every print comes unframed or framed in black metal, white oak or natural oak. You only pay for the frame: the framing itself is free, and your poster arrives mounted behind shatterproof plexiglass, ready to hang on a single nail.
