Frames within frames within frames. This building is a puzzle box.
A thick concrete pillar stands in the foreground, holding a heavy beam. Through the gap, we see a grid of more pillars and slabs, some empty, some carrying balconies with closed wooden shutters. The light is soft and even, and the white sky peeks through every opening.
We like how this image shows the skeleton of a building and the life inside it at the same time. The structure is brutal and repetitive, while the shutters bring a Mediterranean touch. It feels like a seaside apartment complex on a sleepy afternoon.
Shapes like these fill many of the facades in our brutalism poster collection, but this one is lighter in tone than most. It suits a sunny living room, a kitchen or a dining area.
The landscape format fits easily above furniture. Several sizes are available.
Exposed frames were a calling card of the movement. Read how brutalism turned structure into style.
