A narrow passage, a dark door, and the sun cutting a sharp line down the wall.
We are walking along a concrete walkway. On the left, a low parapet. On the right, a tall wall dotted with small round marks from the formwork. Ahead, a dark opening leads into the building, under heavy overhangs. The light divides the scene into bright planes and deep shadows.
The finish of the concrete here is surprisingly smooth and refined, closer to stone than to the rough surfaces people often associate with brutalism. It shows how varied this style could be.
Part of our brutalism posters, this image has a calm and contemplative mood. It works well in a bedroom, a bathroom or a meditation corner. The vertical format suits a narrow wall.
The poster is available in several sizes. Is brutalism really as cold as its reputation? Read our article and judge for yourself.
