Two buildings, two personalities, one narrow street.
On the left, a dark building with rounded balconies curls toward the camera. On the right, a tall concrete block rises, its surface stained and weathered, its windows recessed like eye sockets. Between them, a single lamppost bends over the street. A few bare branches cross the top of the frame.
The mood is dark and urban, with most of the image sunk in shadow. Only the edges of the curves and the top of the tower catch the light. It feels like early morning in a city that has not woken up yet.
This is the kind of street scene that makes our brutalism poster collection feel lived in rather than staged. It suits a hallway, an office, a bedroom with dark walls. The poster comes in several sizes.
Love it or hate it, brutalism shaped the streets of many cities. Our feature on brutalist architecture explains why it is still here.
