Hundreds of windows, dozens of balconies, a scattering of air conditioners and satellite dishes. Nothing else.
This wide shot flattens a prefabricated apartment block into a pattern. Pale wall panels alternate with darker columns of glazed balconies, and each little box tells its own story: drying laundry, closed blinds, a plant, a broken shutter. From a distance it is pure graphic design. Up close it is a whole neighborhood.
Blocks like this were the backbone of postwar housing across Eastern Europe. Mass produced, criticized for decades, now photographed by people who find beauty in their repetition. We are firmly in that last group.
The landscape format makes it a strong piece above a sofa or a long sideboard, and the black and white palette keeps it easy to match. Available in several sizes.
More towers and estates are waiting in our brutalist architecture wall art. To learn how this kind of building spread across Eastern Europe and beyond, read our history of brutalism.
