"Дом торговли", the vertical letters say. House of Trade.
This facade is a whole world in itself. Rows of arched and rectangular windows, decorative concrete details, air conditioners and satellite dishes, curtains of all kinds. In the middle, a lattice of dark glass panels runs from top to bottom between two columns of Cyrillic letters. The walls carry the patina of many decades.
It is a rich, detailed image that rewards a close look. Soviet era architecture mixed brutalist mass with decorative touches, and this building shows that mix perfectly. Grand, a little worn, still in use.
We see it in a living room, a study or a hallway, anywhere you want a poster that sparks questions. The vertical format suits narrow walls. It comes in several sizes.
It joins our collection of brutalist and Soviet era architecture posters. To understand how this kind of building fits in the story of concrete, read about brutalism in Eastern Europe.
