The open window was one of Matisse’s favorite subjects, and this set follows it across thirty years: Open Window, Collioure, The Window (Interior with Forget-Me-Nots) and Window in Tahiti. This set brings them together as 3 art prints, at 20% off the price of the three posters bought separately.
Open Window, Collioure was painted in the summer of 1905 in a fishing port near the Spanish border, with boats, pink walls and pots of flowers: it is one of the founding canvases of Fauvism. The Window, painted in 1916 in his studio at Issy-les-Moulineaux, is calmer, with a small table, a bouquet of forget-me-nots and green light. Window in Tahiti dates from 1935, years after his voyage to the South Seas: patterned curtains frame a view of the sea and the island’s vegetation. Three windows, three moments of his life, one way of letting the light in.
