Perfect symmetry, courtesy of a car park.
Two sets of circular ramps spiral down on each side of a narrow central wall, like mirror images. Their concrete edges are streaked with dark stains, and each level casts a thin shadow on the next. The result looks more like a giant mechanism, or the inside of a watch, than a place to park.
We love finding beauty in purely functional buildings. Car parks were a big part of the brutalist landscape, and many of them have a strange, sculptural power when you look at them the right way.
The landscape format and the symmetry make it ideal above a sofa or a bed. It also looks great in a garage turned office, for a wink. Available in several sizes.
There is more surprising concrete in our brutalism posters, from libraries to monuments. To find out why so many everyday buildings were built in this style, read how concrete took over the world.
