Most of this image is sky. Dark, empty, almost black.
At the bottom, a cluster of rooftops pushes into the frame. One block is bright, with narrow vertical windows like the teeth of a comb. Another sits in shadow. A third wall slices through at an angle. Together they form a little skyline of hard edges, sharp as paper cutouts.
We love how much room this composition leaves. The buildings feel like they are rising out of a dark sea, and your eye keeps going back and forth between the bright and the dark planes. Minimal, yes, but never empty.
On a wall, it creates depth and a strong graphic effect. It works beautifully in an office, a modern bedroom or above a low sideboard. The poster comes in several sizes.
It is one of the more abstract pieces of our brutalist architecture posters. Curious about the ideas behind these clean, heavy shapes? Our guide to brutalism covers the theory and the buildings.
