A facade like a quilt. Every panel a slightly different shade of gray.
This building is covered with a patchwork of concrete slabs, some light, some dark, some stained by the weather. Just below the roof, a row of sharp fins juts out like teeth, casting angled shadows on the wall. A lower block projects forward, hollowed out in the middle. Bare branches sneak into the bottom of the frame.
What we find fascinating is how the weathering adds character. The building was probably uniform when it was new. Decades of rain and sun have turned it into something richer and more textured.
The horizontal format makes it a good piece above a desk or a console table. Its mid tones are easy to match with warm colors like terracotta, ochre or olive. Available in several sizes.
Texture lovers will find more in our brutalist architecture wall art. And if you have ever wondered why brutalism embraced raw, unfinished surfaces, our article on béton brut explains it all.
