One visitor, one sweeping staircase, and a lot of empty space.
A smooth concrete ramp curves across the frame in a wide spiral, catching bright light on its outer edge. At the top, a single person leans on the railing. The background is a pale interior wall, almost white, and the ceiling arches above in deep black.
The image has the elegance of a dance move. The curve leads your eye from the bottom left to the person at the top, then back again. It is a reminder that concrete can be fluid and light.
We included it in our brutalism poster collection to show that the style could also be graceful. It works beautifully in a living room, a reading corner or a bright office.
The tall format and contrast between black and white make it striking from a distance. Choose from several sizes.
Many cultural buildings of the twentieth century used concrete ramps and spirals like this. Discover how brutalism shaped theaters, libraries and universities.
