FSC-certified paper
Spring 1888 was Van Gogh's first in Provence, and he went at it like a man possessed. In about a month he painted some fourteen canvases of orchards in bloom, and he even imagined them hanging together as a decorative set.
In The Pink Orchard, the apricot trees are covered in pale pink blossom, painted in short dabs over thin dark branches. The grass is a bright green dotted with small flowers, a reed fence runs across the back, and the sky is a soft, clean blue. The paint is thick in places, light in others, and you can follow his hand as he moves from tree to tree.
